Artifact and Archive Collections

Museum Collections

The Taylor County History Center has over 15,000 artifacts in its collection representing the last fifty years of the West Texas Frontier.   Our curatorial staff works to preserve and exhibit the artifacts throughout the Village.  During the summer, student interns learn how to care for artifacts as well as how to catalog the data into a museum software program, PastPerfect.

StEPs workbook (Standards and Excellence Program for History Organizations) through AASLH (American Association for State and Local History.)  This workbook helps us review national museum standards and apply them to our site through a self-study course.  With each completed section, our site can earn various awards!  Check back here often for updates on our latest accomplishments in collections management.

Interested in donating an artifact to the Taylor County History Center?  Call 325-572-3365 to make an appointment with our director!

Standards and Excellence Program for History Organizations

Keep track of our progress as we make our way through the American Association for State and Local History Standards and Excellence Program for History Organizations!  We’re currently introducing our Board of Directors, Collections Committee, and Staff to the program. Each time we complete a section, AASLH will award us with a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Certificate!  Check back often to watch our progress!
